Painting of Mary’s Shell on Cleveleys Beach
We’ve captured this well-loved local landmark for you in watercolour paint. Made out of steel and big enough to climb into, it’s much explored by people of all ages.
It’s mostly submerged by the sea twice a day, when you can just see the top of it at high tide. It gives you some idea of how deep the water is at the foreshore. It’s a particularly amazing sight at sunset, with the red glow of the evening sun behind it.
Mary’s Shell is one of a series of pieces in the ‘Sea Swallow’ art trail along the seafront.
As it’s one of the most photographed things in the town – we’ve also got a photo of it here in the Emporium.
