Have you ever been to Skippool? It’s a fascinating place, only a stones throw from the main road between the coast and motorway at Poulton. It’s where boats are moored in the small tributaries that feed the River Wyre – we’ve caught them in our watercolour painting.
Boats Moored at Skippool
It was once a major port where goods were traded from all around the world, from as far afield as Russia and North America. In 1837 it was even described as ‘the Metropolis of the Fylde’.
Hard to believe it was so busy when you see it now. Now, it’s a peaceful place, home to pleasure craft and small boats. Plus an amazing assortment of wildlife.
Go and take a look! Then capture a slice of old fashioned English life in our original watercolour painting of boats moored at Skippool Creek.
Prints from our original paintings, drawings and designs make perfect presents for anyone who loves the Fylde Coast. Seaside gifts for Christmas, birthdays and just because. Why not show someone that you care?
The original watercolour painting is drawn by hand right here on the Fylde Coast by our artist, Derek Littlewood.
