Blackpool's Grand Theatre stands right in the heart of the town centre on Church Street which is within stone's throw of the seafront, and it's one of the seaside towns best loved landmarks.
At a cost of £20,000 it took just nine months to build and was completed in July 1894 - it was designed by leading Victorian theatre architect Frank Matcham.
Like many old buildings it's had a chequered past and sailed close to closing on more than one occassion. But today it's a fantastic facility for local people and tourists alike and shows an astonishing variety of shows right through the year.
Our original watercolour painting of The Grand Theatre on it's corner on Church Street includes the historic features of the famous building, captured in the street scene of today, with residents and shoppers milling about in the Blackpool sunshine.
This is a print from our original painting, drawn by hand here on the Fylde Coast and signed in pencil on the mount by the artist, Derek Littlewood.
It’s printed in full colour on a thick, high quality photo paper, mounted and framed in your choice of frame colour.
If you love theatre and in particular Blackpool Grand Theatre, you'll love our original painting - it’s a lovely reminder of nostalgic days of the past and the seaside – until next time that you visit or the next show that you see.
Of course these original drawings from the Seaside Emporium would make perfect presents for anyone who loves the Fylde Coast or indeed the seaside in general, and ideal Christmas gifts.
