Lytham Windmill stands tall and white on the open grassy seafront of Lytham Green, where the River Ribble meets the Irish Sea.
It's one of three well preserved mills which stand distinctive and proud here on the Fylde Coast - the other two being Marsh Mill at Thornton and Little Marton Windmill at Blackpool.
Dating back to 1805, it's a treasured reminder of the past and how people both made food and earned a living in years gone by. Today it's a very well loved and much photographed landmark which identifies the 'Lytham' in Lytham St Annes. Whether you see it against a blue summer sky like the one in this painting, or against a beautiful watery winter sunset, it's a lovely sight to behold.
Lytham Windmill and Lifeboat Museum is also open to the public during the season.
If you love Lytham and in particular Lytham Windmill and the Green, you'll love our original painting, drawn by hand here on the Fylde Coast and signed in pencil by the artist, Derek Littlewood. It’s printed in full colour on a high quality art card, ready for you to frame as you choose.
You could put your print in a frame and stand it on a coffee table in your lounge, or frame and hang it in a place where you’ll see it each time that you pass – a lovely reminder of walks in the fresh air until the next time that you are there.
Of course these original paintings from the Seaside Emporium would make perfect presents for anyone who loves the Fylde Coast or indeed the seaside in general, and ideal Christmas gifts.
